Even as she spoke, the support from her industry peers was evident. 　　当地时间5月10日，艾伯塔省政府部门发布通知称，麦克默里堡森林地区的野火已经失去控制，危险程度“极高”，过火面积达1000公顷。

　　该部门要求麦克默里堡镇居民疏散。报道称，麦克默里堡是加拿大石油重镇。

　　报道提到，2016年，麦克默里堡发生了一场巨大野火，迫使9万名居民撤离，石油生产也被中断。

　　联邦政府警告说，加拿大将面临另一个“灾难性”的野火季，据预测，受厄尔尼诺现象影响，加拿大大部分地区的春季和夏季气温将高于正常水平。

　　据报道，2023年，加拿大遭遇有记录以来最严重野火季，共发生超6000起火灾，烧毁了1500万公顷土地，面积约为年平均水平的7倍。8名消防员死亡，23万人撤离家园。
